High at 19
Sunday, January 3rd, 2010I was a sports photo stringer for two local newspapers when I was a teenager in northern Virginia. One evening, when I was just 19 years old, I convinced the powers that be at the Capital Centre, home of the Washington Bullets, to let me photograph the Bullets – 76ers game from the catwalk directly over a basket. All I have from that experience is this single copy from the next day’s newspaper showing Elvin Hayes attempting to stop Dr. J from scoring.
