The Boys of Summer
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009My youngest daughter is competing on her neighborhood swim team for the first time this summer. The meets are four-hour events and she typically swims a 50m freestyle around 6:45 pm and then the 25m breaststroke around 9 pm. I get a bit bored since it’s my ex’s swim club and I’ve not yet made many chat buddies. So at last nights meet I started looking around for pictures.

Testifying were Robert Nabors, Deputy Director, Office of Management and Budget, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.

18 years lived : 60 years MIA
Friday, June 19th, 2009I covered a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery this afternoon for McClatchy Tribune News Service. Sixty years ago U.S. Army Corporal Robert Schoening, 18, went missing from his unit fighting in the Korean War. His remains were recently found and returned to his family — two sisters and a brother.
